We are PLA fiber project team established in Japan.
PLA fiber
Most promising alternative to polyester
Fossil resource fabrics, such as polyester fabrics produce microplastics while being washed, which are considered a major cause of pollution in waterways.
No microplastics
Microplastics will not be produced from PLA bio-degradable fibers.
Reduce carbon emissions with PLA fiber
No doubt that polyester, including recycled, makes up the majority of the fibres used today.
If PLA fiber was used instead of polyester, it would be possible to reduce CO2.
Comparing polyester and PLA
43% CFP can be reduced
The additive "PlaX"
Biodegradable, whatever the color
Our challenge with PLA fiber is its low resistance to the heat needed to complete the dyeing process.
To over come this problem, one of our project team member Bioworks corporation developed a plant-delivered additive that modifies PLA. The additive's name is PlaX.
Japanese tea, Red wine, Pomegranate, Onion, and etc.
PLA yarn can be dyed with Natural dyestuff.
To achieve 140℃ with PlaX brought various possibilities to PLA yarn and fabric.
Faux fur & fleece fabric, now PLA fiber blended
Faux fur & fleece is typical polyester fabrics.
We blended PLA fiber to reduce microplastic in water way.
Valuable functional properties
Any fabric woven with PLA Yarn will benefit from these characteristics
flame not spreading
gentle on the skin
effect will be kept after washings
prevents the growth of bacteria
